LC216 is a research preparation of L-carnitine, the water-soluble compound that ferries fatty acid chains across the mitochondrial membrane as part of the carnitine shuttle (Giangregorio et al., Biochim Biophys Acta Biomembr, 2026; PMID 41875964). Research-grade material, supplier-vetted supply. For Research Use Only. Not for human consumption.
For laboratory research use only · Not for human or veterinary use.
Description
LC216 is a research preparation of L-carnitine, a water-soluble compound synthesized endogenously from trimethyl-lysine and obtained through diet. L-carnitine has been documented in primary literature as a component of the carnitine shuttle, the mitochondrial transport system that carries fatty acid chains into the mitochondrial matrix for oxidation. The way ATP functions as the cell's energy currency, carnitine is thought to act as the courier that delivers fuel to the site where that currency gets minted.
Giangregorio et al. (Biochim Biophys Acta Biomembr, 2026; PMID 41875964) reviewed the structural features of the mitochondrial carnitine/acylcarnitine carrier and its role within the carnitine shuttle. Xiang et al. (J Transl Med, 2025; PMID 40087749) documented the expanding roles of the carnitine pool in energy metabolism, mitochondrial homeostasis, and signal transduction research, extending beyond its classical fatty-acid-oxidation function. Adeva-Andany et al. (IUBMB Life, 2017; PMID 28653367) described the biochemical pathway of carnitine acyltransferase activity, including the conversion of acyl-coenzyme A esters to acyl-carnitine esters for transport across the mitochondrial membrane.

Shipping & Storage
Shipping
Orders ship within 24 hours. Delivered via USPS Priority or standard FedEx unless expedited shipping is selected at checkout. Tracking is emailed on dispatch and mirrored in your account.
In-transit handling
Lyophilized vials are shelf-stable and ship at ambient temperature. Storage in our warehouse is cooled; shipment does not require refrigeration.
Long-term storage
Lyophilized vials are shelf-stable at ambient temperature; refrigeration (2–8°C) extends shelf life. Refer to the batch-specific Certificate of Analysis for material-specific storage guidance. Once reconstituted, follow the storage instructions on the batch COA. Not for human or animal consumption.
Returns
Because these are research-grade biologics, we cannot accept returns on opened vials. Damaged-in-transit shipments are replaced at no cost within 7 days of delivery.
