Description
Cartalax is a synthetic short-chain tripeptide bioregulator (Ala-Glu-Asp, also documented in primary literature as T-31) studied for its effects on gene expression and cell-renewal markers across several tissue-culture models. It has been documented as a modulator of proliferation- and apoptosis-associated protein expression in aging cell and tissue cultures. The way a dimmer switch adjusts a single circuit rather than rewiring a room, Cartalax is thought to fine-tune expression of a defined set of aging-associated genes rather than acting broadly across the cell.
Ashapkin et al. (Mol Biol Rep, 2020; PMID 32399807) documented that the tripeptide Ala-Glu-Asp modulated gene expression in human embryonic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell cultures at nanomolar concentrations, with the peptide reported to enhance IGF1 expression and stimulate NFκB expression across two independent cell-aging culture models. The same paper also examined related short peptides (Lys-Glu-Asp and Lys-Glu) and reported peptide-specific effects on FOXO1, TERT, and TNKS2 expression that are not attributable to Ala-Glu-Asp itself. Lin'kova et al. (Bull Exp Biol Med, 2016; PMID 27259496) documented that the peptide Ala-Glu-Asp reduced MMP-9 synthesis and increased expression of the proliferation marker Ki-67 and the aging marker CD98hc in aging skin fibroblast cultures studied by immunofluorescent confocal microscopy. Chalisova et al. (Bull Exp Biol Med, 2015; PMID 26033601) documented that the short peptide T-31 (Ala-Glu-Asp) stimulated proliferation and reduced apoptosis markers in organotypic kidney-tissue explant cultures from young and old rats.
