Description
ARA-290 (cibinetide) is a synthetic peptide modeled from the helix-B region of erythropoietin, designed to interact with the innate repair receptor (IRR) — a heterodimer of the erythropoietin receptor and beta-common receptor subunits — without engaging the classic erythropoietin receptor homodimer responsible for red-cell production. It has been characterized in the literature as tissue-selective, sparing the hematologic activity associated with recombinant erythropoietin. The way a master key opens a specific set of doors without touching every lock in the building, ARA-290 is described in research as activating the IRR pathway associated with tissue-protection signaling while research models report it leaving red-cell-stimulating pathways largely uninvolved.
